TORONTO, November 19, 2024 – The Toyota Highlander family is everything you need it to be – from a multipurpose command centre that helps you take control of your life, to a place to connect with friends and family. It’s equally at home as a sanctuary during the daily commute or as the perfect ride for a weekend getaway.

“The Highlander combines the best of two worlds – the versatility of an SUV with the sophistication and refinement of a premium passenger car,” said Cyril Dimitris, Vice President, Toyota Canada Inc. “For 2025, we’re offering the Highlander in five hybrid and four gas models – each representing a popular combination of features and amenities ready to help Canadians enjoy the benefits of a life well earned.”

Highlander’s refinement starts with the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) – a platform that contributes to both handling and style. Highlander expresses a sophisticated attitude through a rigid body structure that’s low, wide, and aggressively sculpted. This design also delivers greater aerodynamic performance and a lower centre of gravity for enhanced vehicle stability, improved fuel efficiency, and a quieter ride.

Inside, every Highlander model offers impressive amounts of comfort, space, and – above all – versatility. Available in seven- and eight-passenger cabin configurations with easy access to all three rows, every model’s cabin is a welcoming environment characterized by soft, padded surfaces and a tailored look. Eight-person models feature a 60/40 split folding second row seat that accommodates three people. For extra comfort, seven-person models replace this with a pair of captain’s chairs. All models feature a 60/40 split, fold-flat bench in the third row. When there’s cargo to carry, Highlander offers up to 2,387 litres (84.3 cubic feet) of space behind the front row.

Every member of the Highlander family is a technology showcase, headlined by the Toyota Multimedia system. This bundle of smart connectivity technologies helps keep drivers informed and safe while simplifying their lives behind the wheel. Toyota Multimedia integrates wirelessly with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and features Toyota’s newest interface, which improves interaction between people and vehicle through sight, touch, and voice.

Technology is also at the heart of every Highlander’s performance, starting with a choice of two distinct all-wheel-drive powertrains:

  • The Toyota Highlander – offered in four grades – features an efficient gas powertrain built around a 2.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with stop and start technology and an eight-speed automatic transmission. These Highlander turbo models enjoy 265 peak horsepower and up to 309 lb-ft of torque. With a 2,268 kg (5,000 lb) towing rating, these Highlanders include Trailer Sway Control to help rein in unwanted trailer movement. Highlander XLE features Toyota’s Dynamic Torque All-Wheel-Drive system, while Highlander XSE, Limited, and Platinum grades step up to a more performance-minded, Dynamic Torque Vectoring AWD system with Drive Mode Select and Driveline Disconnect.

  • The Toyota Highlander Hybrid – available in five grades – is built around Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive, featuring a 2.5L four-cylinder engine, two electric motor-generators, and an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission. This combination delivers 243 total system horsepower, a remarkable fuel efficiency rating of just 6.7L/100 km (city/highway combined), and a 1,588 kg (3,500 lb) towing rating. All Toyota Highlander Hybrid models feature an electronic on-demand AWD system that employs a separate, rear-mounted electric motor to power the back axle when required.

As a Toyota, every member of the Highlander family also features an impressive bundle of active and passive safety technologies. All models feature Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+, designed to enhance driver awareness, decision-making, and control. All models also feature the Toyota Star Safety System, eight airbags, the Blind Spot Monitor System with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, a backup camera, and a tire pressure monitoring system with automatic location.

For 2025, Canadians can choose from nine grades – including four offered with the gasoline powertrain:
