TORONTO, Ontario (September 18th, 2024) – Be daring, with the boldly-styled Toyota Crown. The Crown is well engineered and beautiful – delivering driving fun like no other premium performance sedan. New this year, both grades are enhanced with impressive upgrades.

“With its bold styling and a choice of two powerful yet efficient hybrid-electric powertrains coupled to on-demand all-wheel-drive, the Crown is ready to take Canadians on a breathtaking journey,” said Cyril Dimitris, Vice President, Toyota Canada Inc. “It’s everything a modern premium sedan should be – and a fitting tribute to one of the core vehicles that helped launch Toyota in Canada 60 years ago.”

The Toyota Crown expresses sleek and sophisticated style informed by a minimalist aesthetic. Strong bodylines flow from front to back to emphasize its dignified appearance, while large alloy wheels telegraph its sporty driving attitude. A fixed panoramic moon roof, multi-beam LED headlamps and full-width rear lighting package help convey Crown’s premium styling and quiet confidence, while Beyond Zero badging proclaims its exclusively electrified credentials.

Inside, driver and up to four passengers are invited into exemplary comfort that pairs perfectly with the Crown’s stylish exterior. The welcoming cabin has been crafted with attention to every detail – featuring an island architecture that’s spacious while putting everything within easy reach. Notable features include heated and ventilated front row seats, heated rear seats, and a leather-wrapped and heated steering wheel thoughtfully designed with intuitive controls for common vehicle functions.

Under the hood, the Crown is exclusively electrified, with a choice of two impressive self-charging hybrid powertrains.

  • The Toyota Crown Limited grade is built around a fourth-generation Toyota Hybrid System – featuring a 2.5L four-cylinder engine, two electric motors, and an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission. The result is 236 system horsepower with a fuel efficiency of 5.7L/100km (city/highway combined). The Limited model features on-demand AWD with a separate, rear-mounted electric motor to power the rear wheels when needed.

  • The Toyota Crown Platinum grade features the Toyota HYBRID MAX powertrain. This delivers 340 system horsepower and an impressive 400 lb-ft of torque. The HYBRID MAX system features a 2.4L turbocharged engine, torque-heavy electric motors, and a direct shift six-speed automatic. The result is exhilarating performance and an estimated fuel efficiency of 7.8L/100km (city/highway combined). The Platinum grade features full-time electronic AWD with a rear eAxle featuring a high-output, water-cooled electric motor, plus Toyota’s Adaptive Variable Suspension system. New this year, the Platinum grade’s exhilarating performance is enhanced with a Dynamic Rear Steering system.

Every Crown is a technology showcase – including the Toyota Multimedia system. This system is a bundle of start connectivity technologies that keep drivers informed and safe while simplifying their lives behind the wheel. Toyota Multimedia integrates wirelessly with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and features Toyota’s newest interface, which improves interaction between people and vehicle through sight, touch, and voice. Many functions may be controlled via the touch screen via the same gestures used on mobile phone screens. The Crown’s technology package is rounded out with an 11-speaker JBL Clari-Fi Premium Audio system including 12.3” touchscreen display, a 12.3” multi-information display, five USB charging ports, and a wireless charging system for smart phones.

Every Crown also comes with an impressive package of safety features headlined by Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 – the newest version of Toyota’s suite of active safety technologies and capabilities. TSS supports driver awareness and decision making to help reduce the potential for accidents. Other standard safety features include the Toyota Star Safety System, a backup camera, eight airbags, the Blind Spot Monitor System with Safe Exit Assist, Intuitive Parking Assist with Auto Braking, and an electronic parking brake with brake hold.

This year, Toyota offers the Crown in two configurations, as follows:
