We all know the quality of air we breathe has a big effect on our health and that of our family’s. So, it makes sense to take a closer look at your Toyota’s ventilation system and air filtration.
Luckily, Toyota’s engineers have been thinking about this for years.
The ventilation system in Toyota vehicles are engineered to make sure the maximum amount of particulates get filtered out, while at the same time ensuring an open flow of clean air circulating in the cabin.
But after thousands of days filled with pollen, dust and pollution, there’s an inevitable buildup of mold, bacteria, soot, and other particulates. At this point, a ventilation or air conditioning service may be your best bet to make sure you’re breathing fresh air once again.
Check your A/C early and save down the road
Until recently, most drivers only requested an A/C Refresher Service if there were obvious signs of a problem. A musty smell in the cabin, a strange clicking when the A/C is turned on, the A/C blowing warm air instead of cold. By this time, there may be some serious issues with the entire system, which could require replacing several parts, repairs, or an A/C recharge -- and that can add up.
Luckily, more drivers are now asking for the A/C Refresher Service as a way to make sure the system is clean and unblocked, so the cabin is getting crisp, filtered air at all times.
That means a healthier environment inside your vehicle.
The A/C Refresher service process
First, we start with an inspection of your entire Toyota Air Conditioning system. That includes checking all components for leaks, the cabin air filter for pollen and dust buildup, and the A/C compressor belt (if equipped). Then, we do a quick test drive to diagnose any problems with your heater, A/C and vents.
If all you need is a change of filter, we’ll change that and send you on your way. If we do find any malfunctions or excessive buildup, we’ll advise getting the full A/C Refresher service.
A quick detour: Why Toyota Genuine Cabin Air Filters
If your cabin air filter does need replacing, we recommend our Toyota Genuine Cabin Air Filters replacement over aftermarket filters.
Why replace your cabin air filter?
Toyota Genuine Cabin Air Filters capture unwanted particles such as pollen, dust and other pollutants before they enter your vehicle's compartment. They are made from high-quality fibres and incorporate advanced technology to improve the air you breathe and keep the HVAC system at its optimum efficiency.
Ok, back to our regularly scheduled article about the A/C Refresher Service.
The A/C Refresher service process, continued...
The A/C Refresher service is a two-part process. The first thing we do is spray a special foaming agent into the evaporator drain tube. While in the foaming state, this agent cleans out any unwanted buildup. It then dissolves into a liquid state, which allows it to flow out of your system, taking any contaminants along with it.
The second stage is where we apply a conditioning spray directly into the vents and intake ducts. Again, this is to capture and clean out any contaminants in your system, leaving you with a fresh, clean, scent-free vehicle.
We then do a quick double-check to make sure everything is functioning as desired. Then, our Service Advisor will inform you that your Toyota ventilation and air conditioning is fully serviced and ready to go.
