Say hello to summer adventures! From days at the beach to epic road trips with the family, the next few months ought to be filled with fun, laughter and memories you’ll treasure forever. Before you head out, get your ride ready with these summer vehicle maintenance tips.
Keep your vehicle running efficiently all summer long
Over time, environmental conditions can lead to buildups in your vehicle’s fuel and combustion systems. Toyota’s combustion and EFI fuel system service is a 2-step process to remove carbon, gum and varnish buildup. Start the summer off with an EFI service to help maximize your vehicle’s performance and fuel efficiency so you can travel even further.
TIP: We recommend bringing your vehicle in for fuel system cleaning every 80,000 km or when you begin to notice drivability issues.
Top up key fluids that keep your vehicle's system cool
During the hot summer months, we need to stay hydrated to avoid overheating – and our vehicles do too. Specific fluids like Toyota Genuine Motor Oil, Brake Fluid, Transmission Fluid, Long Life and Super Long Life Coolant act as cooling agents, carrying heat away from important parts in your vehicle. To ensure smooth summer driving, be sure to have your fluids checked and topped up at your regular 6 month or 8,000 km maintenance appointment.
Check your maintenance schedule to see when it’s recommended to replace your Toyota Fluids and Lubricants.
Consider a battery health check
During warmer months, your 12-volt battery is put under additional strain. Not only does it face extra heat and humidity, but also increased demand on your vehicle’s electrical system from powering your A/C. 12v car batteries typically last an average 4-5 years, and while your battery may seem completely fine and functional, it can’t hurt to request a Battery Health Check at your next maintenance appointment.
To prevent the chance of your battery interrupting your summer adventures, book a Battery Health Check at your local Toyota Dealer.
TIP: Before heading out on your road trip, bring a set of jumper cables just in case. Be sure to familiarize yourself with how to safely boost your battery before using the cables.
Pro tip: In a Hybrid Vehicle, the Hybrid system needs to be turned off and the exclusive jump starting terminal needs to be located. You can refer to your vehicle's specific Owner's Manual or contact your Toyota Dealer for further instructions, including where to locate these.

Get the right wipers for the season
Did you know there are different windshield wipers for specific seasons? To effectively clear off your windshield in summer, it’s important to switch to a set of wiper blades that were made for warmer weather. Consider changing your windshield wipers every 6 months or during your appointment to switch back to all-season tires.
